Education Services

The SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum offers a variety of services for educators:

- Workshops and Training -

Free educator tours and workshops at the museum are available upon request. Museum staff is also available to host in-service or teacher training events, or to visit schools for in-service training days. Contact Joe Long for more information about any of these services.

- Teacher's Morning Out -

Teacher’s Morning Out is specifically designed for Social Studies and History teachers for all grades. The purpose of the program is to teach you how to incorporate museum resources into your classroom. Throughout the day you will hear guest speakers from area museums/non-profits and education officials, take an in-depth tour of the museum, and learn how other teachers have been able to use these resources in their classrooms.

Come to Teacher's Morning Out to get ideas for supplementing lesson plans, meet other Social Studies teachers, and take a morning out to participate in a continuing education program that has been designed specifically for you. You may also consider using this workshop as a Professional Development Activity (Non-CEU Credit).

Each workshop lasts half a day. The cost of the program is $15 (payable to SC Confederate Relic Room) which includes lunch and a resource notebook. Sign up early because space is limited.

Upcoming Workshops:
Dates Pending for Next Semester

- Research -

The museum is an excellent resource for educators wanting to research a South Carolina history topic. It is also a great place for your high-achieving students to research term papers or History Day projects! With advance notice and by appointment only, students can sometimes consult unique primary resources. Please contact Krissy Dunn Johnson, Curator of History, for details.

The SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum is a proud member of the South Carolina Council for the Social Studies.
